Traditional dried jícara fruit shell native water canteen. This traditional handmade vessel for liquids, still used by the Maleku, has been created as an arts and crafts object as well as being a usable accesory. The striking painted surface features local flora and fauna and the names of the displayed local animals in the language Maleku Jaika. A fiber cord allows this piece to really be used as a canteen..
