Pottery Human Vessel

This anthropomorphic vessel of a male figure is associated with the material culture of the Gran Nicoya archeological area (present-day Guanacaste/Nicoya). Its decoration is comprised of incised lines, instead of paint, or pottery slip seen in later pieces. This piece most definitely had associations with notions of fertility as seen in many pieces from this area.
