Tlaloc God Pot

This jewel of a pottery vessel clearly exemplifies the Mesoamerican cosmology that accompanied the culture whom brought it down from the north to today’s Guanacaste/Nicoya region of northwestern Costa Rica. This pot displays an aspect of the powerful Mesoamerican deity of the rains -Tlaloc – from whose snouted mouth pours forth the rains.
