Ancestor Mask

This classic ancestor mask was worn in the Danza de los Diablitos of 2014-2015 in the principal Brunka tribal village of Boruca. Carved from one piece of balsa wood, the mask features the visage of an ancestor in the form of a kagbrú – a diablito (little devil) with a feather headdress.

The mask symbolizes the Native people in their struggle and resistance post European contact. Sold with accompanying photo documentation of its use during the traditional tribal event.
