Used Ceremonial Mask 004 SOLD


This remarkable ceremonial mask (hand carved balsa wood and painted) was used in the village of Boruca during the Danza de los Diablitos of 2016-2017.

This mask is a classic diablito mask (representing the indigenous population – specifically the Brunka warriors who resisted this invasion and subsequent colonization – with the xamán (bull) in its maw – the bull representing the invading European. The bull is essentially a captive of the Native diablito.
