Carved from balsa wood, smeared with natural pigments and used during this three day tribal ceremony. The creativity of these Brunka tribal artists never cease to amaze. Feathers from local bird species adorn this carved mask.
This venerable ceremonial (Danza de los Diablitos) mask depicts an ancester – an old cheiftain – from the indigenous village of Boruca. Outstanding creativity and the original head straps are still attached. Ceremonial mask worn in the Danza de los Diablitos of 2016-2017.
