Used Ceremonial Mask 019 SOLD

Were-crocodile

Carved and painted from balsa wood. This fauna-inspired diablito is a homage to the potent and respected crocodile  (in the Brúnkajk language) – representing utter stealth, deadly hunting tactics and yet, as counter-point, healing (the fat of this reptile – used medicinally – is practically a panacea for all sorts of health conditions still used by the Brunka today – as well, of course, this river animal’s meat).

Were-crocodile mask worn in the Danza de los Diablitos of 2016-2017 in the village of Boruca. This piece comes accompanied with photo-documentation.
