The fabrication of these original scrap metal sculpture and creatures of Costa Rica came about when the national government’s organization (PANI), in charge of the care and education of street kids and other youth-at-risk in Costa Rica’s capital city of San José, created a program of creative metal-working for these children to learn specific skills and tasks. These wonderfully creative metal art pieces, modeled after local animals, also speak to the idea of salvaging and recycling materials.
