Description
Painted Plaque – Pre-Hispanic Motifs
This mixed-media ‘Pre-Hispanic painted plaque’ is a composition created by painting motifs from pre-European contact cultures of present-day Costa Rica and delineating areas created by adhering different tones of real beach sand onto the piece.
This particular plaque is a study of Pre-Hispanic references of the mysterious bat – important and venerated animal of Mesoamerica – applied to the polished surfaces of many of the famous poly-chrome pottery of the Guanacaste region, gold of the southern Pacific watershed and jade carvings.
