Kuna Mola Blouse
Difficult to acquire, authentic Kuna woman’s mola blouse, this traditional woman’s blouse, with an illustrative mola pattern (on both sides of this garment as per tradition), is a key part of traditional Kuna women’s dress still used today. Featured in this quilting compostion are two wetland birds (wearing hats no less). Pairs and duality are sacred notions for the traditional Kuna, per their ancient cosmology, and in mola art these precepts are readily apparent.
