This unique guan pot is not a typical pottery-type: the guan is one of the larger birds of the neo-tropical forests and features enigmatic reddish Mesoamerican-influenced designs over a light background. This piece features the guan in flight through the pot’s middle.
This piece is elegant testimony of a people – from the Gran Nicoya archeological culture – who had a true appreciation of high aesthetics, knowledge of local fauna and design finesse.
