Chieftain Axe Pre-Columbian Amulet

These amulets were power symbols that were very important to the wearer as they were buried with their owner for the afterlife. The manufacture of these jadeite amulets would have been in the Guanacaste/Nicoya region and the central Atlantic watershed of today’s Costa Rica.
