Description
Shaman Chief Amulet
This lovely cut of forest green jade is a perfect complement for this balanced and pleasing design. This raptor bird adaptation of the recurring ‘dios hacha’ (axe-god) amulet, valued by this Pre-Columbian culture, features the bird-form over a smooth, polished axe blade – a shaman chief’s amulet whose owner was, without a doubt, a powerful leader. Our replica pieces are copies of Costa Rica’s national museum collections which exhibit such exquisite pre-European objects. This motif has a direct correlation to themes of political power, spiritual wisdom, and ability to ‘see’ and guide the group.
