Motmot Bird Energy
This ecological-themed piece – a motmot bird – features a detailed study of this tassel-tailed, feathered gem of the Costa Rican forests. Cleverly composed, we see a Brunka tribal ancestor embodied between the bird and a notch in a rainforest tree.
These very elaborate and almost narrative ‘ecological-cultural masks’ represent an artistic evolution emerging from the traditional Brunka ceremonial masks. Using the same wood species (balsa wood and tropical cedar), these smaller versions are very popular for their size and price tag.
