The design of this mask cleverly combines a typical ceremonial Brunka diablo mask (local balsa wood left natural with painted reptile) starring a climbing iguana very realistically rendered. The iguana is a very welcome resident of this tribe’s territory supplying the people, since ancestral times, with a source of meat.
This tribal mask’s design corresponds to the traditional diablo mask-type used by the Brunka in the Danza de los Diablitos fused with local flora and fauna.
