This carved tribal mask’s design corresponds to the traditional diablo mask-type used by the Brunka in the Danza de los Diablitos fused with local flora and fauna. Carved and painted balsa wood, this decorative ‘fusion’ mask features the traditional diablo – the ‘diablo’ mask elements being well camoflaged in a forest setting.
Like a hidden presence, this traditional Brunka mask’s fangs and horns are barely discernable among the exuberant tropical forest foliage and fauna (red eyed tree frog, trogon bird and keel-billed toucan) in the design. An exceptional piece for decorative wall art.
