This carved tribal mask’s design corresponds to the traditional diablo mask-type used by the Brunka in the Danza de los Diablitos fused with local flora and fauna. Carved and painted balsa wood, this decorative ‘fusion’ mask features the traditional diablo – the ‘diablo’ mask elements being well camoflaged underneath a venemous viper spirit – the nagual of the mask.
The Brunka carvers of these traditional Brunka mask’s stun the ‘outside’ world with their mystic compositions and meticulous carved and painted details – without par in Central America. An exceptional piece for decorative wall art.
