Bat Nagual diablito Mask
Carved by one of the more talented mask making families of Boruca village, this elementary, yet richly detailed, ceremonial mask displays a classic Boruca village design. These hand-carved wood diablito masks are worn by Brunka ceremonial participants to represent their people in their centuries-old Danza de los Diablitos. In the venerable tribal cultural event, the antagonist, the toro (bull), represents the invading Spanish.
