A finely detailed and vibrantly painted design (on balsa wood) electrifies this ‘feline energy‘ diablo mask. ‘Primitive’ art form worthy of wall art, this hand carved wood mask’s design corresponds to the traditional diablo mask type used by the Brunka people to represent themselves in their centuries-old Danza de los Diablitos. The antagonist, the toro (bull), represents the invading Spanish. Carved by famed mask maker and village elder of Rey Curre, Rafael Gonzalez.
