Smaller Tropical Cedar Mask
Brunka tribe of Boruca village – southern Pacific coast watershed – hand carved mask from the rich, reddish tropical hardwood: cedro amargo.
This is a smaller model of a diablo mask typical of one worn in the Danza de los Diablitos – just in miniature. It displays a classic Boruca village style (as opposed to the mask styles of the tribe’s second village Rey Curre).
