This is a traditional diablo mask – typical of those worn in their annually celebrated Danza de los Diablitos.This “sweet revenge” demon mask is from the principal Brunka tribal community of Boruca in the country’s Zona Sur (Southern Zone, Pacific coast). The remarkable painted detail in this mask brings to life, and infuses with a courious light, the vengeful expression inherent in this mask.
