Ancestral Spirit (neo-tropical hardwood)
The Brunka tribal diablito mask is essentially a homage to their ancestors – the mask visage represents an ancestral spirit in tropical hardwood (adorned with horse hair).
This collectible ethnographic mask is a ‘diablo‘ mask-type which has been used in the Brunka tribe’s annual celebration for centuries (in both of their villages: Boruca and Rey Curré).
A realtively older mask – it was worn in the Danza de los Diablitos of 1999-2000 in the village of Rey Curre, Costa Rica, this piece comes accompanied with valuable photo-documentation.
