This impactful mask design seamlessly meshes the a classic diablito mask with a raptor bird rendering – as totem – in ancestral goldwork creating an overall potent presence.
It was worn during the 3 days of this year’s danza (ceremony), the Danza de los Diablitos of 2017-2018, in the village of Boruca. A valuable context image of this mask being worn in the ceremony is available to accompany the mask.
