Classic Old School Mask, Boruca, Costa Rica
These masks actually represent the indigenous population in this centuries-old tribal event. This particular diablito mask was created steeped in older tribal tradition. The only colour on this otherwise natural balsa wood mask are cheeks stained with achiote (annatto) berry. Worn every day in this annual, 3 day ceremony in the indigenous community of Boruca in the southern Pacific watershed of Costa Rica.
Used in the traditional tribal event: Danza/Juego de los Diablitos of 2019-2020, this pìece comes accompanied with all-important photo-documentation.
