These traditional, ceremonial masks represent themselves/their ancestors as the indigenous defenders of their territory and way of life during the onset of European invasion and colonization (a struggle that continues today).

Mask worn in 3 years of the Danza de los Diablitos – the last time was this 2017-2018 in the village of Boruca in the southern Pacific watershed of Costa Rica. Comes with valuable context image of this mask being worn in the ceremony.
