These decorative wall plates are made of split chunga palm leaf and natural dyes, reflecting the fine basketry of the indigenous Wounaan and Emberá of Panama. Design themes are derived from the flora and fauna of Wounaan territory in the Darien region of Panama.
This particular large decorative wall plate features a unique form to be sure – it is a heart-shaped plate! The type of stitch technique: ‘roll stitch’, lends itself to creating this effective, multi-toned concentric design. Makes for impressive art to be hung on a wall.
