Traditional Tribal Darien Jewelry
Exquisite traditional tribal jewelry (unisex) made from vegetable ivory (tagua nut) (the “teeth” elements) and glass trade beads. This necklace is actually a rendition of this traditional necklace (usually having the “teeth” made of shaped silver/nickel coins, instead of tagua nut) – a widely used, unisex necklace worn by members of the Embera and Wounaan tribes -who are two related, but seperate, indigenous groups of the Darien region of Panama.
- Tribe: Wounaan
- Size: 17″ long
- Artist: unknown
