This ‘eco-cultural mask’ composition dramatically depicts a particularly important animal for the Brunka people traditionally: the harpy eagle. This raptor is the largest eagle of the American continent. It can easily snatch up in its enormous talons a male howler monkey. Unfortunately there are very few deep forest harpy eagle habitats left today in lower Central America.
This ‘ecological mask’ features this magnificent crested eagle poised above an ancestral visage creating the impression of a headdress.
