This carved tribal mask’s design corresponds to the traditional diablo mask-type used by the Brunka in the Danza de los Diablitos and fused with local flora and fauna. Carved and painted balsa wood, this decorative ‘fusion’ mask features the traditional diablo – the ‘diablo’ mask elements being well camoflaged.
Like a hidden spirit, this mask’s fangs and horns are barely discernable what with the exuberant tropical forest foliage and fauna in the design. As part of the mask’s face, a fang, for example, is replaced by a toucan head. An exceptional piece for decorative wall art.
