Climbing Sloth, Volcano Arenal
This delightful painting features an idyllic scene with a climbing sloth with the iconic Arenal Volcano, Costa Rica looming in the background and the lush foliage all around. Many of the women folk artists represented at Galería Namu, such as Ivannia and her family, are part of an artisan co-operative: the Corazones Valientes group. Their art often depicts neo-tropical animals within their natural environs – the northern lowlands of Costa Rica – a habitat which is the back yard of these women artists.
